Welcome to DMIS!

Dick Marsh Instrument Service (DMIS) was formed in the fall of 2001 with the goal of supporting the Oxford and Bruker product lines, particularly the older instruments in the field. The instruments we service would mainly be NMR vertical and animal MRI systems, as well as Oxford ULT and optical splitpair cryomagnetic systems.

My Background

I trained as an instrument engineer apprentice at AERE Harwell / Rutherford Labs in Didcot Oxon UK. On completion of this apprenticeship I transferred to Oxford Instruments in the September of 1978 as an assembly technician; building and testing cryomagnetics systems. In 1984, I transferred to the new Oxford Instruments office in Bedford, MA to support US customers. Around 1992 I became the Oxford US service manager, which lasted until 1997. In 2001, I started DMIS.

Our Goal

DMIS's goal is to continue the support of Oxford products (NMR & Cryomagnetic systems). We also support Bruker, Magnex, and legacy systems Chemagnetics and Nalorac. Over the years we have collected an extensive inventory of used magnets, narrow and widebore, RF amplifiers, synthesizers, and other NMR equipment.

Services DMIS provides

DMIS specializes in NMR system installations, moves, quench recovery, repairs, and upgrades. We work in conjunction with our sister company, NMR Assocaties, of Fitchburg, MA.

DMIS has a NMR liquid helium fill service for the New England area. We can either bring the helium to you, or have it delivered. We also perform a conservative fill schedule and basic magnet maintenance. In other words, we keep an eye on things! We do all this for a fixed yearly charge of $5,100 (on most systems), which includes the liquid helium.

DMIS has magnet power supplies for Oxford, Bruker, Magnex, Varian, and Nalorac. We have custom field plotting and measurement equipment at our disposal. We have numerous turbo vacuum pump installation kits with helium leak detectors, tripod hoist and gantry cranes. Our machine shop and heliarc welding equipment are available for on-site welding (such as those bothersome cracked neck tubes). In short, we've got pretty much everything required to rebuild a cryomagnetic system.

When the OEM does not call you back, give us a call at 508-517-8341 or email to dmisnmr@gmail.com

Thank you - Dick Marsh
